Paris, 11 September 2001. - The Assembly of WEU – the interim European Security and Defence Assembly – deeply shocked by the horrific large-scale terrorist attack against the United States, in which so many innocent people have lost their lives, wishes to convey its deepest sympathy to the American people, the US President and the Congress and strongly condemns this major crime of war committed in a time of peace.
